Irene is now hopefully a distant memory, but since she messed with our game last Sunday morning, it’s all the more reason to join us this Sunday at 9AM at Murphy Field for pickup soccer. Bring your cleats, a light and dark colored shirt, and a water bottle–hope to see you there!
Irene may be nothing more than a tropical storm by the time she reaches us on Saturday night, but the wind and rain will be enough to keep us off the field this Sunday morning so there will be no pickup game. Batten down the hatches and we’ll hope to see you next Sunday, 9/4 for our Labor Day weekend game.
I’ve just gotten back from a long backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail in Maine, and I’m really looking forward to getting back on the soccer field again–hope to see you this Sunday at 9AM at Murphy Field.
It’s been brutally hot and tough to get any outdoor exercise over the last several days, but relief is on the way: the temps will fall to the 60s this Saturday night, and Sunday morning will be beautiful and in the low 70s for our game start at 9 AM. Come out and stretch those legs at Murphy Field in a fun pickup soccer game without fear of heat exhaustion; just remember to bring a white and dark shirt, a water bottle, and your cleats. We had the best turnout of the season last Sunday with 28 players to inaugurate play at Murphy Field. We’ve switched from South Row field because they are reseeding and repairing the fields there–we will be playing on the back field at Murphy for the rest of the summer. The weather will be great for this Sunday’s game: bring a white and dark shirt, water bottle, cleats, and your friends and neighbors!
We had a great turnout of 26 for the holiday weekend game last Sunday. Starting this Sunday, 7/10, we’ll be switching to Murphy Field off Mill Road for the Sunday pickup game because they will be overseeding and repairing the South Row fields. If you’re coming from South Row Field, just take Mill Rd off of Rt 4, and the entrance to Murphy Field is about 1/2 mile down on the right. We’ll be on the back field, which is almost the same size as at South Row (we don’t have permission to use the front field). Bring your water bottle, a white and dark shirt, and cleats. Please spread the word about the change in location!
We had a bumper crop of 27 players last week for an awesome game on the big field. Some people will be away this week, but that may mean a game on the 8v8 field with perhaps a little less running. I thought I was going to be away, but as it turns out I’ll be here, so I’ll be there at South Row tomorrow morning and hope to see you. As always, bring your cleats (yes, Bruce, this means you!), a water bottle, and a white and dark shirt–and anybody you can drag out to the field at 9 a.m. Check this web page if it’s raining for an update on the game.
