Starting this Sunday, 6/23, we’ll be moving the pickup game to Murphy Field (back field) for the summer. This will give the fields at South Row a chance to rest, and also give us a nice 11v11 field to accommodate the larger number of players that we typically see over the summer. Start time will remain at 9 a.m. Please bring a white and dark shirt and a water bottle. Directions to the field are on the other tab.

It’s also time for our insurance renewal, and I’ve plunked down $572 to renew the liability policy that is required for our use of the fields. We’re going to change up our collection efforts a bit to make this easier going forward. Occasional players are always welcome and you can play for free. For regular young adult players (22 and under), we’d welcome a $20 contribution for the whole year of playing (through the end of June next year). For regular adult players, we’d welcome a $50 donation for the whole year. CYSA players and coaches do not need to make a contribution because you are covered under the CYSA insurance policy. Any occasional or CYSA player or coach is of course welcome to make a donation to help keep this pickup game going. All memberships and donations are very much appreciated–we love playing the game and we want the pickup tradition to continue in Chelmsford. We will donate any significant surplus to the CYSA.

Here’s the annual report for the past year. We had total collections of $605, including 10 members paying $50 each and 10 other players making occasional contributions. We had total expenses of $572, which consisted of only two expenses: $546 for last year’s insurance premium and $26 for the domain name and maintenance of this website. That left a balance of $33. Costs are up a bit this year but we have more regular players so I’m encouraged that this will continue to work.

With that out of the way, it’s back to soccer. Let’s play!

After the recent rain-fest, Sunday’s weather should be blissfully dry and comfortable with temps in the 60s at game time. Bring a white and dark shirt; newcomers are always welcome!

Better late than never! What a difference a week makes in the weather. Be there. Bring lots of water.

It looks like the rain is done for a while and the wind may help dry out the fields faster so lets play some soccer this morning. Dress warmly since it is only in the 40’s. Please bring white and colored shirts that will fit over the layers. See you there.

It’s a bit iffy for Sunday’s pickup game, with the forecast saying there’s a 40-80 percent chance of rain. Use your best judgment; we’ll try to post by 8:30 if the game is cancelled; otherwise assume the game is on at South Row field at 9:00 a.m.!

Wow, what a stretch of fine weather we’re having! We’re expecting another perfect spring morning this Sunday, and Kap claims he’ll grace us with his presence for the first time this season, so there’s really no reason not to join us this Sunday at 9 a.m. at South Row Field. Last week we had 19 players including several new CYSA coaches and players–hope to see you there!
