Great turnout last week

We have had great turnouts the last few weeks.   We can make a plea for a move to Murphy in a few weeks for a bigger field but for now we will continue to enjoy Harrington fields.  Game is on Sunday 9am.  Bring dark and white shirts (not striped) and water.   Both Lawrence and Bruce are away this week so hold on to any money until next week.   Enjoy.

Memorial Day Weekend – Let’s Play

I am sure many of you are busy on this long holiday weekend but I am sure some of us can find some time for a run Sunday morning at 9AM at Harrington School fields. The weather prediction says there should be a window of no rain in the morning so let’s do it. Bring water, dark and white shirts (remember, gray is neither dark or white). See you there.

Cloudy Soccer

Hi all. It looks like Sunday morning will be cloudy but dry so let’s fit in a scrimmage. Same 9am start time and location (Harrington) as always, bring both dark and white shirts and water. BTW, the US Men’s National Team started training for the World Cup this past week. I feel inspired!

Mother’s Day Soccer

Yes, I know this Sunday is Mother’s Day but what better way to show your mother/wife that you love her than to get out of her way and come play soccer. And if you are a mother, then you deserve to get out and play the game you love. So, come enjoy the perfect day this Sunday morning at 9AM at Harrington School fields for a pickup soccer game. As usual, bring both a dark and white shirt and plenty of water and your joy of the game. See you there.

Spring 2014 Play Starts This Sunday!

It looks like the rain will hold off until Sunday afternoon, so we have time to get our first kick-around in for our spring season. So, get up from in front of the TV, brush the crumbs from you lap, and come out to the Harrington School fields for some fun soccer. As always, please bring a white and a dark (gray is not dark) shirt and your own water. Scrimmage starts at 9AM (or when we have critical mass). Do that yard work today so you can play tomorrow. See you there!

Pickup game starting NEXT WEEK at Harrington

Great news!  We’ve just been assigned Harrington Field as the home for our pickup game this spring, and we will plan to start the game next Sunday, May 4th at 9:00 a.m.  If the weather looks uncertain, please check the website before heading over to the field–we will always post if the game is cancelled.

We’ll send out a weekly reminder about the game late each week to everyone who is following the blog (37 people right now!).  If you haven’t yet subscribed, feel free to add your e-mail address to our spam-free private list using the button on the right side of the web page, and you can manage your subscription by changing or deleting your e-mail at any time.

The game is open to everyone who loves soccer, with CYSA coaches and older CYSA players (ages 12+) especially welcome to attend.  The pickup game has been running for many years so that coaches can have their own chance to get on the field and play the game.  Spread the word so that we have a great turnout for our first game!

Happy Holidays and Enjoy the Winter Break!

Well it looks like our streak of playable weather late this fall has finally run out, with some snow on the ground and low temperatures tonight that will make the ground too frozen for soccer. It was inevitable, and the day has now come to hang up those outdoor cleats and call it a season.  I hope that those of us who are nursing injuries (myself included) can use the winter break to heal our tired bodies, so that next spring we can all be back on the field rarin’ to go.  In the meantime, I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful holiday season.

December Pickup Soccer this Sunday, 12/1

Gotta love it when we have the chance to play into December! The forecast is for temps in the mid to high 30’s at game time and heading into the 40’s, with overcast skies, light winds, and a chance of a wintry mix. We won’t play if there’s any precipitation, but if it stays dry, we’re on! Check the website (www.chelmsfordsundaysoccer.com) for any updates by 8:30 a.m.

Pickup Soccer on Sunday, 11/17

We had 13 players for last Sunday’s pickup game, and it looks like it will be unseasonably warm for this Sunday’s game so it should be a good turnout.  The forecast is for temps approaching 50 at gametime (50!  In mid-November!), with the chance of morning fog and showers.  If it’s very foggy or the rain is coming down hard, then check back here for an update; otherwise assume that the game is on.  It’s possible that I may delay the start by an hour if that’s going to allow us to get the game in.  Hope you can make it!
