Perfect weather for yard work

It seems that the weather is going to be perfect for yard work this Sunday. So, you may wish to skip soccer so that you can do more weeding and such. I’ll get to my yard work after soccer.

Let’s continue with the 8:30 start time while we are on the turf. Kick off at 8:30 at McCarthy. Bring a white shirt and a dark shirt so that we can balance the teams. Bring water.

Once we get to 12 v 12, it is probably best that we break into two 6 v 6 games so that we all get lots of running and touches on the ball.

Keep an Eye on the Weather

The forecast for Sunday morning does not look good. I am not worried about playing in the rain (particularly on the turf), but am concerned about thunderstorms. If it is light to moderate rain, we’ll be there at McCarthy. If it is thunderstorms, we won’t. Hope that the storms hold off long enough for us to get our game in.

8:30 worked well as a start time last week. Let’s do that again and for the rest of the summer — while we’re on the turf.

Those of you who have cleats that fell apart should bike on out to Soccer Stuff in Acton to get new ones today. The bike path goes right by there. Buy cleats. Cross train. It’s all good.

Early soccer this Bastille Day weekend

Start at 8:30 — not our usual 9:00ish.

Cooler temps at that time.

Bring water anyway.

Bring a white shirt.

Bring a colored shirt.

Do not bring a grey shirt.

Be ready to kick-off at 8:30. I’m recording the final, but want to make sure that I start watching it before everybody tells me the outcome.

Early kick-off time next Sunday — 8:30 instead of 9:00

Good games today. It is nice to see so many people playing.

The World Cup Final is at 11:00 AM next Sunday. So, let’s kick-off at 8:30 AM so that those of us who are interested, can get home to watch the match live. It may also be a degree or two cooler at that time.

Although FIFA has not responded to my E-Mail, I am confident that they will take me up on the offer for us to play winner. This makes it even more important that we carefully watch the finals to see what we have to work on before that match.

Playing on the McCarthy Turf this week

As we’ve been doing for the last several summers, we are moving to the turf until the CYSA season starts again. Pass the word along.

I was going to suggest that, in honor of Independence Day, that we wear red and white on one side and blue and white on the other. I was then reminded that grey and not grey seems to be a tough concept in our group. So, forget that idea.

Please bring plenty of water on Sunday. The weather does not look quite so hot, but the turf kind of amplifies the heat.

I have written to FIFA about the World Cup and told them “we got winner”. I will let you know when that game is scheduled.

Hydrate today for tomorrow’s game

No rain predicted, but it looks like it will be warm. Bring plenty of water, a white shirt, and a dark shirt. It is a good idea to really hydrate tonight in anticipation of the warm weather on Sunday.

Last week we had a very nice 10 v 10. The week before we had two 7 v 7 games.

Hope to see you all there at Murphy.

We do not post every week. We do post if something changes. But not always if we are just going to do what we’ve been doing.

Hoping to join World Cup Group I

I just found out that Group I is not yet formed. Why not us? We could be one of the teams. Right?

In case we’re selected for Group Let’s get in some work this Sunday morning. Kick-off at 9:00 at Murphy. White shirt, dark shirt, and no grey shirts. I’ll post at a later date as to when the professional photographer is scheduled to take our head shots.

Soccer on a Long Weekend

One of the things that is great about soccer on these long weekends (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, etc.) is that sometimes our players who have moved away or who are at college come out to play. I hope to see a good turnout this Sunday. Last week was a great game and included an old friend who we have not seen in a bit. So, yay!

9:00 AM kick-off at Murphy Field. Bring enough water to carry you through 11:00. White shirt, dark shirt, no grey shirt. No whining that the weather is warm. Seriously, we’ve just had the longest winter of my life. The warm weather feels good.

Hope that we also see our missing goal keepers (although last week’s keepers played very well) and our missing Australians .

You know that you’ve been wanting to play all week

Rainy on Saturday, but Sunday morning is predicted to be clear. Even if raining, we play if it is not heavy rain.

Some of you still owe me notes for missing soccer two weeks ago and last week. I looked it up, they don’t have to be translated from Australian. Nice try.

White shirt, dark shirt, and never a grey shirt. We kick-off at 9:00 and are playing all the way to 11:00 this week. No quitting early. We had a very competitive game last week.

I hope to see everyone there. Hope that we play the full field with keepers.

See you all on Sunday.

Mother’s Day Soccer

So, here is the recommended plan for those of you that have mothers in your lives.  Get up early and make that nice breakfast.  Flowers are always nice.  Then get out of her way and come out for pickup soccer and give her a nice quiet morning.  Bring the kids if you have to.  But come out to Murphy field at 9am for a game.  The weather should be nice for a change.  Bring a white shirt and a dark shirt (no gray shirts), some water and a friend (maybe even that mother in your life).  Last week, we had a nice 5 v 5.  We are looking for some more people so we can start using the full field.  Hope to see you there.

And Happy Mother’s Day!
