Belichick has converted athletes from other sports.

We had a good crowd last Sunday. Good game. This Sunday is predicted to be clear, but a bit colder. Still hoping that we have a good turnout for soccer.

Dress for the weather, bring white shirt and dark shirt, and bring water. Oh, and a soccer ball. Soccer ball might be handy.

It occurred to me that Bill Belichick has converted rugby players, lacrosse players, basketball players, and members of the Buffalo Bills to all be football players. Yet, he’s not yet converted a soccer player. Perhaps an opportunity for some of our group.

Let’s play this Sunday at 9:00

Sunday morning is predicted to be clear and cool, but not too cold. Kick-off at 9:00 on the turf at McCarthy. I am expecting a good turn-out.

Spurs at Man United, Everton at Bournemouth, and Man City at Wolves are the EPL games for next Sunday. But there are none on the schedule for this Sunday. I have made NBCSN and Fox Sports aware that we are available to fill the void to give the viewing public what they want. So, look sharp. Be prompt. And be ready to give a good account of yourself if we are the match being broadcast.

Bring white shirt, dark shirt, and water. Anyone high school age and above is welcome as long as they play respectfully and do not wear grey. See you at the field.

Soccer is cool. Weather is cold.

I literally don’t know what to say about this week. If, as predicted, it is in the 20’s, that’s below my comfort level. I was hoping that the forecast would improve.

I am not optimistic. In the morning I will get up and make my individual decision as to whether or not it is too cold for me to play. This time of year, any time we get to play is a bonus. But, I am still disappointed when we don’t play.

Hope that everyone is having good holidays and staying in shape.

It’s a gift — another week of soccer

All the rain has stopped. The turf at McCarthy should be nice and green. It is going to be clear weather on Sunday morning. Let’s play.

9:00 AM kick-off at McCarthy. Bring a white shirt, dark shirt and water.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

We are playing this week — at McCarthy

You may be be thinking that the food and treats from holiday parties and celebrations have you slowed you down. Don’t spend any time worrying about it. Of course they have.

The good news is that the weather for this Sunday looks like (as of now) to be acceptable for us to get in a game. It would be great if we could have a good crowd at McCarthy this week. Let’s try and get together for a 9:00 AM kick-off. That means that the warm-ups, shoe tying, and cozy little catch-ups are finished by then and we’re actually playing by 9:00.

Dark shirt and white shirt. Bring water. Looking forward to seeing everybody and having a nice kick around.

There is a small chance of rain. The hourly forecast seems to indicate that we should be okay in the morning. I’ll be there. If I’m out there by myself, I’ll just look more dedicated than everyone else. :~)

Baby It’s Cold Outside

Good news is no snow or rain. Bad news is that the predicted temp for Sunday morning is 24. That is below my comfort level.

Another Sunday of staying home wearing grey shirts

Rarely do you see the weather forecast say 100% chance of anything. Sunday is supposed to be 100% of cold rain. This time of year that rain is cold. No soccer this Sunday.

Good/Bad news

The good news is the rain tomorrow should melt any remaining snow from the McCarthy Middle School field.  The bad news is…. well, the rain; and cold, etc…  So, let’s hold off playing one more week.  Hopefully, we will resume play next weekend at McCarthy.  Enjoy another week off.

Perhaps we can resume next week

Fields are not available. Even the turf is still covered with snow. We will hope to get back out there next Sunday at McCarthy turf.

As I suspected, the rumors of our possible inclusion in the “Super League” made things a little weird last week. I guess I should not have been surprised to have seen photographers at the field. Perhaps it is just something that we’ll have to get used to.

Keep working out and watch this space for when we’ll be playing again. Hope that it is soon. Next week, there should be lots of college students home to swell our ranks. Also, high school season is over.

Happy Thanksgiving. I know that this game and this group of people are in my “blessings” column.

Super League being formed — 8:30 game at Harrington this Sunday

I can only comment on some of the rumors circulating about the potential of a “super league” being formed. Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayem Munich, PSG etc. are all rumored to be joining this. I can confirm that the New England Revolution have not been asked to join. I can neither confirm nor deny whether or not we’ve been approached to join. However, we should probably try to keep in top form in case. So, I expect to see everybody at the big field at Harrington ready to kick-off at 8:30 AM this Sunday.

Bring a white shirt, dark shirt, and water.

Keep an eye on this space for updates as to when we move back to the turf. But, for this week, report to Harrington.
