Spring forward into soccer — March 8th @ 8:30

The clocks change this weekend.

Weather is supposed to be dry this weekend.

Temps are supposed to be mild on Sunday.

Sounds to me like we should play soccer. Could just be me. But, I am hopeful that it is you too. I was thinking of retiring after last week, but I’m still here. You’re welcome.

Let’s gather at 8:30 AM at the McCarthy turf. If that field is taken, we can just set-up across Graniteville Road. But, at 8:30 we should be okay.

Bring a white shirt. Bring a dark shirt. When asked why you don’t have a white shirt do not pretend that this is a new concept.

Hope to see you all on Sunday.

Sunday looks very promising for a game at McCarthy turf

Sunday the 23rd of Feb looks like it will be clear and reach almost 50 degrees. Even if a bit cooler in the morning, it should be a fine day for soccer.

Cancel all other plans you have for Sunday. Get your soccer stuff together. Plan on being ready for a game to kick-off no later than 9:00 AM at the McCarthy turf. I know that I am eager to play as I have not been on the field in several weeks and looking forward to seeing all of you. I think that it would be great if we had enough players

At this time of year, the weather is not our friend. So, having an unseasonably warm Sunday will be a welcome bonus.

People are clamoring to play

February 6, 2020

Hello Hearty New Englanders,

If McCarthy Turf Field is clear (not covered in snow), there are those among us who are eager to play every week. If the field is clear, show up at the McCarthy Turf for a 9:00 AM game. This may not get posted every week (although we’ll try to post more often), but it is true all winter.

We don’t lose the turf field until the kids sports start in the spring. We should take advantage of it. As of Thursday night, it looks like the field will be clear and the conditions dry. Heck, if we play this winter, we may be in April shape by June this year.

As a reminder, everyone high school age and older is welcome. Bring a dark shirt and a white (or very light) shirt.

If it is dry, we should play

This weekend, the weather is unseasonably warm. If it is not raining, we should play. McCarthy turf. Let’s kick-off by 9:00.

Hope to see you all there.

We are playing this Sunday — McCarthy Turf at 8:30

This warm rain will end today. It has done it’s job. The McCarthy Turf is clear. It is supposed to be dry and about 40 degrees Sunday morning. Let’s play!

Everybody, make sure that you are there and make sure that you contact the other players to make sure that they are there too. We’re going to have a game.

Looking forward to it.

In Hibernation

Not to put too fine a point on this, but the fields are covered in snow. I used to have an orange soccer ball that would have been perfect for snow soccer, but I actually don’t want to play snow soccer.

If the turf field clears and the temps are above 35, we try to get some games in during the winter. If we see such an opportunity, we start posting and sending out messages to see if people are interested in playing. At this time of year, we have to be on the lookout for those opportunities, but we can’t play every week this time of year.

If anybody regularly goes by the McCarthy turf field, please keep an eye to see when it clears. Keep us posted.

Dry weather predicted for Sunday morning

Quick Update: I have had several of you already contact me directly looking to play tomorrow. So, there seems to be high interest in having a game. McCarthy Turf for 9:00 AM kick-off.

—————–

The good news is that the snow is not predicted to start until later in the day. The bad news is that it is expected to be 22 degrees at 9:00 AM.

That is too cold for me. But that does not mean that some of you may not decide to play. If so, meet at McCarthy turf at about 8:30 for a 9:00 AM kick-off. I wish that I could be more optimistic. But, i am sure that we will get some warmer (less cold) Sundays soon.

Hope that everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

100% Rainy Sunday Predicted

It is not that often that the weather forecast says 100% of rain. This is one of those times. If it were a warmer time of year, I’d say we should play in the rain. At this time of year, I am not playing in the rain. Too cold for me.

When we do get a chance to resume, let’s move to the McCarthy turf. Keep an eye out for this blog. On Wednesdays, we start looking at the weather for Sunday to see if we can get a game in. So, we try to post as soon as we think that it could be a good chance for us to spin up a game.

I hope that everyone is well, taking care of any lingering injuries, cross-training, wearing grey, and stretching. Hope to see you soon.

Thanksgiving is a time to count blessings. This group of people sure counts as one of mine.

Cold, but clear weather expected

The good news is that no rain or snow is expected for this Sunday. The less than good news is that it is predicted to be kind of cold on Sunday morning. Not 100% sure about how cold. So, dress appropriately if you come to play.

8:30 at Harrington.

I am trying to determine if the turf at McCarthy is available for us to move to NEXT Sunday. This Sunday is still Harrington.

We had good numbers last week. Expect even better numbers this week.

Warm-up at 8:30 at Harrington. Weather looks pretty good. We’ll just keep going as long into the season as we can and as we always do.

We had 15 players on last Sunday. We need just a few more for a full 11 v 11 game.

Hope to see you all on Sunday.
